It’s that time of year where we feel like we need to start over, and put last year behind us. The new year is supposed to provide a new start, and provide the motivation that we all need to make changes right?
Unfortunately New Years is also one of the worst times to make major life changes. It is right after Christmas where people normally over indulge, it is a stressful time of year, and it is also party time right!
If you plan to make a resolution this year set yourself up for success by following these tips.
Pick One Thing
Don’t try and change your entire life all at once, it wont work. If you have not been to the gym in 15 years you are not all of the sudden going to go to the gym every day, try and make it once a week for now.
Plan for Problems
Odds are everything will not go as planned so anticipate there being problems, and work out solutions before they pop up.
Pick a Date
Just because the clock strikes midnight does not mean that you have to start right away. If you pick a date you will have plenty of time to formulate a plan for success.
When the big day comes commit 100%, one great way to do this is to write it down and leave it somewhere you will see it often. If you plan to stop smoking, write reminders for yourself about why you are doing it and keep that with you at all times. This will provide that extra motivation that you might need.
Don’t get down on yourself
Things happen and you need to remind yourself of that and accept it. The key here is to remind yourself why you are making this change, and take note of what triggered your setback.
Reward Yourself for a Job Well Done
Everyone loves a reward! Plan small rewards for yourself as you achieve milestones. Start small with weekly rewards and gradually increase them to bigger monthly rewards, once you hit the 1 year mark you can really treat yourself.
Good Luck in 2018, whatever your goals are we hope that these tips
